Potato veg for Masala dosa

The traditional mashed potato veg, prepared specially for masala dosa.

Serves: 6


Potatoes: 500 g
Onion: 100 g
Urad dal: 1 tbsp
Chana dal: 1 tbsp
Green chillies: 2
Curry leaves: 4-5
Mustard seeds: 1 tsp
Turmeric powder: ½ tsp
Salt: as per taste
Oil: 1 tbsp


  • Pressure cook the potatoes and chop the onion in thin slices.
  • Once potatoes are boiled chop them in small pieces. Soak the chana dal in warm water for 10-12 mins.
  • Now heat the oil in the pan, and add mustard seeds, when seeds start to crackle add urad dal, coarsely chopped green chillies and curry leaves.
  • Now add onions and wait till it turns translucent. Then add potatoes, salt, turmeric powder and mix well.
  • Now add chana dal and mix it well. Divide the veg into 6 equal portions and stuff each portion inside the dosa to make tasty masala dosa.
